Callie

Callie

Quarter Horse Buckskin Mare - 15.0hh

Callie was captured by the United States Cavalry and then freed by a Lakota man named Little Creek. While with the Lakota tribe, Callie fell in love with a paint stallion named Rain. A few months latter, that same cavalry unit attacked the Lakota village. During the ensuing battle, a Colonel shoots Rain, and he falls into a river. The Colonel was about to shoot Little Creek, but Callie knocked him off his horse, deflecting the shot and saving Little Creek’s life. Trying to rescue Rain, Callie leaped into the river, but they both plummet over a waterfall. Once out of the water, Callie stayed by Rain’s side, only for the cavalry to recapture her and leave Rain for dead. Little Creek tended to Rain and then set out in pursuit of the Cavalry.

Callie was then transported in a train with other captured horses from the village to a construction site for the transcontinental railroad where they are forced to sledge a steam locomotive through the woods. After noticing that the railroad would pass through her homeland, Callie tricks the men, releasing herself and the other horses. The locomotive crashed and Callie was trapped when a loose chain around her neck snags on a fallen tree. Little Creek arrived just in time to free her, and together they escaped. The next morning, the Colonel and his cavalry found Callie and Little Creek. A chase ensued through the Grand Canyon; eventually, though seemingly trapped at the edge of a wide gorge, Callie made a tremendous leap to the other side, with Little Creek on her back. Impressed the Colonel stopped his men from shooting at Callie and Little Creek, and gave the mare a nod of respect, and called off the pursuit.

Carlos

Carlos

Quarter Horse Sorrel Gelding - 15.1hh

Carlos is proud of his Hispanic heritage and is one of our many bi-lingual horses. Carlos worked as a carriage horse for a hansom cab in Manhattan until one unfortunate winter when his driver left for a week and left one of his friends in charge of Carlos and the cab. That week, the friend fed Carlos nothing but bulk cans of Beef-a-Reeno from the warehouse club store. One night the friend helped his stalky, bald friend attempt a ruse in which, the friend would take the stalky, bald man’s in-laws on a carriage ride for their wedding anniversary while the stalky, bald man and their other friend sneak a rye bread into the in-law’s apartment. As you can imagine, the Beef-a-Reeno did not settle well with Carlos and he had a terrible case of putrid flatulence. The in-laws asked to end the ride early and the ploy failed as the in-laws caught the bald, stalky man in the act of sneaking the rye bread into the apartment. Following the incident, Carlos never worked as a carriage horse again.

Whether he’s on the track, racing with unbridled energy, or grazing lazily in the pasture, Titan’s carefree attitude is infectious. His antics and playful nature might not win any intellectual awards, but they certainly win the hearts of everyone around him.

Much like a lovable, towering jock, Titan’s focus may not be on anything productive or helpful, but rather on the simple joys of running and being in the moment.  His endearing lack of sophistication is part of his charm, and he’s the type of horse that brings joy to the stables with his friendly demeanor and goofy antics. Paint Quarter Horse Paint - 15.2hh

Jade was once owned by real-life cowboy legend Frank Hopkins. After defeating the orcs at the gates of Mordor and leaving Buffalo Bill’s Wild West road show, Hopkins went to the Arabian desert with his favorite mustang, the eponymous Jade, to take part in the region’s most famous horse race, known as the Ocean’s Fire. Upon entering the race, Jade and Hopkins went up against the most skilled horsemen and toughest steeds in the region.

The race, which covered more than 3,000 miles across harsh Middle Eastern terrain, forced Jade and Hopkins to endure incredible challenges. They faced down mighty sandstorms and survived deadly temperatures, but their greatest challenges didn’t come from nature. Instead, they came from other competitors in the race who viewed the Americans as invaders to their realm and team up to sabotage Jade and Hopkin’s race. Riding bareback during the last stretch, Jade and Hopkins came from behind to surpass the other riders, winning the race.

Apollo

Apollo

Arabian Grey Gelding - 14.3hh

Apollo was the first colt from Old Regret, a prize winning racehorse. Apollo was caught in the middle of a love triangle when two brothers – Harrison and Spur competed for the love of a woman named Matilda. Harrison became rich overnight when Old Regret won the race. Harrison wed Matilda and bought her Apollo as a wedding gift. However, Matilda died while giving birth to their daughter Jessica.

After Matilda died, Apollo escaped the Harrison ranch and led the wild Brumby herd in the Snowy Mountain ranges. After 20 years leading the brumbies, Apollo led the herd through Henry and Jim Crag’s farm, killing Henry and taking Jim’s mare. This led to Jim getting a job working for Harrison and falling in love with Jessica. Jim and Jessica train the youngest colt of Old Regret, which is then let out by one of the Harrison ranch hands named Curly and joins the brumby herd. Jim then rounds up the the brumby herd led by Apollo and gets back the youngest foal, his mare and the entire brumby herd.

Some years later, Jim lets Apollo loose into the wild again. Some guy named Patton is jealous that Jessica likes Jim, and recruits a gang to steal Jim’s horses. Jim gives chase and in so doing rides his horse down a steep mountainside. Patton shoots at him; the horse is killed and Jim is injured. In a twist of fate, Apollo showed up and Jim is miraculously able to put a headstall bridle on Apollo and ride him to round up the stolen horses. Jim won a duel with Patton and got his horses back.

Odin

Odin

Paint Quarter Horse Paint - 15.1hh

The greatness of Odin the horse is that Odin is a horse with potential greatness. And when we look at that potential greatness both in the future and through the passage of time, we se that Odin is a horse living at a point in time. Talking about the significance of the passage of time. The significance of the passage of time. So when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires; what we need to do to create these jobs. And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children and what that means to the future of our nation.

As a horse, Odin exhibits many horse-like characteristics that you would expect to find in a horse such as Odin. His lack of standout qualities could be considered a unique talent in itself – an ability to navigate the cowboy world with a level of inconspicuousness that borders on the extraordinary.

Burro

Burro

Arabian Grey Gelding - 13.3hh

Burro – Spanish for “donkey” is in fact not a donkey nor did he star in the animated film Shrek. Burro isn’t from Mexico and his Spanish skills are mediocre at best. Burro in no way resembles a burro in appearance or demeanor. He is well-trained and great with kids. And though he is getting up in years, he is still a quality cattle horse.

Why then, you might ask, is this Arabian gelding named Burro? History became legend. Legend became myth. And after twenty-five years no one has any idea where the name came from. Is Burro his legal registered name? Of course not. Don’t be ridiculous. But does anybody remember what his registered name is? Absolutely not. And there would be no way of knowing unless you went and looked at his registration. Which we are obviously not going to do for this exercise.

Calypso recognized Jo’s pain as similar to her own, and they end up connecting. Jo works in the stables and tends to Calypso on a regular basis and is able to tame her.

Due to financial difficulties at Britwick, Calypso was leased to the Winthorp family who are upper class migrants from England. Jo is able to find work tending the Winthorp horses and continue to see Calypso. Calypso is given to Georgina Winthrop who is cruel and rude to the horse. After a riding incident at a social gathering, the Winthrop’s decided to return Calypso to Britwick; however, Britwick was closing down and Calypso was sold to a ranger named Terry. Together Terry and Calypso went on rescue missions in the wilderness. Eventually Terry decides to retire and Calypso was given to a farmer who used old tools that forced Calypso to work very hard.

Calypso was then sold to a kind carriage driver in New York City (not the same one as Carlos). When the carriage driver got sick, Calypso was sold to another carriage company, which treated its horses cruelly and engaged in illegal horse trading. One day, a kind stable boy named Manual alerted the police of the company’s illegal activities and Jo found Calypso and reunited with her.
