JX Canyonlands Cowboy Experience
Become a JX Cowhand
For riders looking for a genuine cowboy experience, JX Canyonlands Ranch is the place for you.
The Ranch at JX Canyonlands
The Canyonlands National Park and Forest area of Southern Utah is home to our mother cows for winter grazing. During the early spring months of each year, our mother cows give birth to baby calves. During these months, riders can push cows to water or preferred pasture areas as well as check on the well-being of the herd.
During May of each year, we identfy cow-calf pairs and round them up to be branded, tagged and doctored. The cow-calf pairs are then loaded onto trucks to be transported to JX Bear Lake. Riders during this time of year will get to help find and round up cow-calf pairs and can even participate in some “branding” activities.
Learn to Ride Like a Cowboy
When you show up, we’ll match you to your horse based on your riding level and desired experience. We have horses of various breeds, sizes and dispositions. Each Cowboy Experience at JX Ranch begins with instructions for saddle and tack as well as time to get acquanted with your steed.
Country Cooking
Riders that join us for our full-day experience can enjoy a hearty meal with the JX Cowhands. Cause Lord knows you can’t cowboy on an empty stomach.
A Customized Cowboy Experience
At JX Canyonlands we know that no two riders are exactly the same. For beginning riders, we will help and instruct you on proper riding technique until you feel comfortable leaving the corral area. For more advanced riders, our seasoned cowhands will provide techniques and advice to help you become a true JX Canyonlands Cowboy or Cowgirl.
